An understanding

Around the 1980’s a branch “concrete repair” was added as a result of many problems with existing concrete constructions in that period. From this a specialisation in “repair of natural stone” was very soon developed.

The required knowledge and craftsmanship for this is in our hands and is known throughout the West of this country. An important point in the history of Van Bommel Gevelgroep is the restoration of the masonry and pointing of the “Ridderzaal”(“Hall of Knights”) and the neighbouring historical building of the “Binnenhof”(“Inner Court”, government centre) in The Hague. These activities took place from 1987 to 1992.

Apart from the many contracts for historically well and less known buildings Van Bommel Gevelgroep also provided many houses, apartment buildings and other types of buildings with a renovated façade. Recently almost every existing type of pointing were applied on the various reconstructed historical facades of the new prestigious shopping area “Haagsche Bluf” and the neighbouring “De Baljurk”.

Replacement of the pointing is one of Van Bommel Gevelgroeps specialties and is skilled in the complete range of pointing types with utmost craftsmanship from the traditional “knip/snij”(cut)-pointing to mechanically compressed “platvol”(flat)-pointing.

Another specialty is the repair of cast and nature stone. Van Bommel Gevelgroep is skilled in every degree from relatively simple repair of for instance concrete balconies en lintels to complicated repair or reconstruction of artificial- and nature stone ornaments such as recently executed on the former Department of Justice located at the Plein 2B in The Hague.
